It was a pleasant surprise to have Rudrankksh Patil, the world champion of rifle shooting; alumnus of ISC 2022 batch visits us, his alma mater. Having him in the campus not only amazed us but it was also gratifying to see the result of hard work, sacrifices & dedication by him, his family, his team and the school. He visited the school to acknowledge this and express his gratitude for all that we have done to support his journey.
The fruits of his efforts started with him clinching the gold at ISSF Junior World Cup. And after that there was no looking back for him. He won yet another gold in the men’s 10m air rifle at the ISSF World Championships in Cairo. He is the second Indian to achieve this remarkable feat after Olympic Champion Abhinav Bindra. He also secured a 2024 Paris Olympic quota for India in the process.
Seeing and hearing this young lad of 18, the youngest world champion, a proud title holder with seven gold medals, and yet so humble, gave us an immense sense of pride.
Revathi Srinivasan, Director – Education and Principal, had this one advice for him that as you grow bigger, taller and more powerful, keep your feet on the ground because every experience that takes you to the top and helps you to fly also reminds you that you have to be rooted, so that you can fly higher the next time.
His words astounded us as he shared his experiences at international events where he met people from different nationalities. He also learnt how to manage his life, keeping all the distractions away. He was focused on his goal to win a world championship. With his hard work and dedication he converted his big dream into reality; proving that no dream is too big and all we need to do is upgrade our conviction.
During our candid conversation, Rudrankksh spoke about the importance of sense of purpose in one’s life. He is inspired by the teachings of Bhagvad Gita. Listening to such profound thoughts and clear vision from an 18 year old was heartening. His fellow rifle shooters from school interviewed him.
