Abacus activity
Apr 02, 2025
Our Grade 3 students made their own abacuses. The teacher gave them numbers to work with, and they used clay and toothpicks to create the abacuses. They shaped the clay into a base and stuck the toothpicks upright to form rods. Then, they made small clay beads and placed them on the toothpicks. The students used the beads to represent the numbers given by the teacher and practiced counting. It was a fun and creative way to learn how an abacus works! Everyone enjoyed making their own abacus and using it to practice math.
