"Adventure, Sports, and Exploration: A Thrilling Experience in Darjeeling" "Day 4 & 5 of our National Exchange Program was an adventure-filled day, as we explored the wonders of Darjeeling! It was an action-packed day, filled with excitement, thrill, and sportsmanship! Our students from Smt. Sulochana Devi Singhania School were treated to an electrifying basketball tournament hosted by St. Joseph School. The tournament featured teams from two schools from Darjeeling, showcasing their skills, teamwork, and determination. The energy in the stadium was palpable, with cheering crowds, thunderous applause, and chants of encouragement. They also practised and rehearsed for the cultural programme to be presented. Our students from Smt. Sulochana Devi Singhania School embarked on an exciting visit to the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. At the zoo, we were mesmerized by the diverse range of Himalayan flora and fauna, including the iconic red panda, snow leopard, and Himalayan black bear. The students were fascinated by the unique adaptations of these species and learned about the importance of conservation efforts. Next, we visited the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, a pioneering institution dedicated to promoting mountaineering and adventure sports. Our students were inspired by the institute's rich history, its legendary founder Tenzing Norgay, and the bravery of mountaineers who have conquered the world's highest peaks. The institute's museum showcased an impressive collection of mountaineering equipment, photographs, and memorabilia, giving our students a glimpse into the world of high-altitude adventure. We also witnessed a thrilling demonstration of rock climbing and rappelling techniques. This visit was an unforgettable experience, combining education, adventure, and inspiration. Our students returned with a newfound appreciation for the natural world, a sense of awe for the bravery of mountaineers, and memories that will stay with them forever.
