With stars as guides and science true, Nuclear light can see us through.” One day workshop on’Beneficial effects of nuclear technology and Indian nuclear programme by IARP in collaboration with Smt . Sulochanadevi Singhania school,Thane . Our school had the honour of hosting a one-day workshop for our students organised by the Indian Association of Radiation Protection (IARP) by team of eminent scientists from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) , Mumbai, on 5th December 2025. The event was a golden opportunity for students to interact with eminent scientists and gain in-depth knowledge about nuclear science and its vast applications. The workshop featured a series of enlightening lectures by distinguished BARC scientists. These sessions highlighted the beneficial effects of nuclear radiation in fields like medicine, agriculture, industry and energy. The speakers also elaborated on India’s nuclear program, its safety protocols and the role of BARC in nation-building. One of the major highlights of the event was the experimental demonstrations, where students were given hands-on experience using sophisticated instruments. This interactive session sparked curiosity and excitement among the students, offering them a rare chance to engage directly with scientific tools and techniques. Adding a creative dimension to the workshop was an engaging skit on nuclear energy and its safety, performed by renowned actor-scientist Shri Yatin Thakur. Through a powerful blend of drama and science, the skit communicated key messages about the safe and peaceful use of nuclear technology in an entertaining and thought-provoking way. The day concluded with an exciting quiz competition, where students tested their understanding of the day’s sessions. The quiz added an interesting twist to the learning experience, fostering team spirit and reinforcing key concepts. Overall, the workshop was a memorable treat for all science enthusiasts — a perfect blend of knowledge, interaction and inspiration. It instilled a deeper appreciation for nuclear science and its significance in our everyday lives. “Nuclear energy is more than just power—it’s the promise of progress, the triumph of science, and a clean path forward for our planet.”
