On the occasion of National Science Day, a group of enthusiastic students from class 9 and ISC 11 had the unique opportunity to visit the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, the India’s premier nuclear research facility on 2nd March, 2025. The theme for this year, “Clean, Green and Viksit Bharat: through Material science and Nuclear Technology”, perfectly aligned with BARC’s mission of advancing nuclear technology for sustainable growth. This visit provided students with invaluable exposure to cutting-edge scientific research and its role in shaping a cleaner and greener India. The day began with an informative audio-visual presentation about the history of man and materials, followed by a fascinating question-and-answer session, where experts addressed students' curiosity about nuclear safety, use of various advanced materials and future innovations. Students also witnessed an engaging skit, illustrating the evolution of nuclear science and the role of advanced materials in shaping the future of nuclear energy. One of the most anticipated moments of the visit was witnessing the Dhruva Reactor, India’s largest research reactor. Students were fascinated to learn how nuclear technology plays a critical role in clean energy production, medical advancements and environmental sustainability. Experts at BARC explained how nuclear energy can significantly reduce carbon emissions while ensuring a reliable power supply for a growing nation. A highlight of the visit was the panel discussion, where students had the opportunity to pose thought-provoking questions to experts in the field. The best two questions were shortlisted from our school, posed by Miss Kimaya Bauva and Miss Kkhushi Ganacharya, both class 11 students, which were deeply appreciated by the panelists, showcasing the students’ keen interest and analytical thinking. National Science Day 2025 at BARC will remain a milestone in our students academic journey, motivating them to contribute toward a sustainable and technologically advanced Bharat.
