While enunciating the important role of Nuclear Energy and its various societal applications, a special two days Nuclear Energy awareness festival under the name ‘ATOM FEST-2024’, was held in our school on 2nd and 3rd of September, 2024. The event was organized by Nuclear Power Corporation of India, A Govt. of India Enterprise, under the Dept. of Atomic Energy, Mumbai for our vibrant students of class 7 to class 11.
While addressing the gathering, the senior official Shri. Umed Yadav, SO/Head, NPCIL said that Nuclear Power can play pivotal role to achieve the target of net-zero in a sustainable way. In continuation to that, he also addressed the students about the role of discipline in student’s life and how to handle the pressure and stress in adverse condition.
The event ‘Atom Fest’ witnessed the gathering of around 3500 students and teachers of the school. The objective of such kind of special public awareness initiative by NPCIL is to make students aware about the multiple aspects of nuclear energy and to dispel their apprehensions and doubt related to its various applications.
During the two-days long Nuclear Energy Awareness Festival, an Exhibition Stall was put up by NPCIL with placement of scale model of Nuclear Power Plant. The model was added attraction for the students and experts interacted with students and tried to explain the functioning of a nuclear power plant with the help of model. Various competitions like Quiz, Poster Making and Slogan were organized and winning students were felicitated by the dignitaries.
As a part of ‘Atom fest’, a dedicated session focused on clearing common myths such as risk of nuclear power, radiation exposure etc. about nuclear reactions was conducted and misconceptions were cleared.
‘ATOM FEST’ 2024, was indeed a platform for learning, collaboration and inspiration for the next generation of scientist and engineers who will shape India’s nuclear future.
